East Dakota Water Development District

East Dakota Water Development District promotes and supports the sound management and
conservation of all water resources. The district provides technical, organizational, and financial
assistance to prospective and existing water resource project sponsors within its coverage area. They
have also initiated activities and programs that serve the needs of the people of the District.

Brookings Conservation District

The Brookings Conservation District is an organization whose goals are to coordinate and promote the
proper stewardship of all soil, water and other natural resources. In doing so, the District encourages
and assists all farmers and landowners of Brookings County to conserve their natural resources.
Emphasis is placed on education, planning and the application of conservation practices. The District
promotes cooperation between urban groups and other units of government in their efforts to conserve
our natural resources.

South Dakota State University

South Dakota State Unversity reaches all corners of the state through the Cooperative Extension Service
and the Agricultural Experiment Station, offering services to seek to improve the quality of rural life.
Also at SDSU are the Center for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship, Engineering Experiment
Station, Office of Remote Sensing, South Dakota Transportation Technology Transfer Service,
University/Industry Technology Service, Water Resources Institute, Engineering and Environmental
Research Center, and Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory.
